Happy Trails

Eight o clock and rather tired
Should I give my morning up?
There's some greeters at the door
And they're hired to show me love
All the smiles and backwards looks
And my khakis pressed and clean
I can't deal with any smiles
Cause it's still eight fifteen

Check my watch and shake the hand
Of another family friend
Talk about the weather out
Not sure but I think his name is Jim
With all the smiles and backwards looks
And weeks and years gone by
I think I'll enjoy today

There's a sermon to be heard
In the blue skies of Tennessee
I'll be greeted by the birds and clouds
And rain and all the trees
There's a doctrine to be heard
In just being alive
Though it's simple I'll be living all my life until I die

I feel like I've gone away
I feel like I've fell in place
Here my thoughts just disappear
And for that I'll rest my case
For all the thoughts and dirty looks
And weeks and years gone by
I think I'll enjoy today

There's a sermon to be heard
In the blue skies of Tennessee
I'll be greeted by the birds and clouds
And rain and all the trees
There's a doctrine to be heard
In just being alive
Though it's simple I'll be living all my life until I die
